Sgt. Gregory Furtado, a State Trooper since 2006, died overnight on Nov. 30. The cause of his death has not been released. Furtado had served as the leader of the narcotics task force for the Cape and Island District Attorney's Office.
His sister-in-law Anna Qualls created the GoFundMe to help her sister and 6 and 9 years old niece and nephew.
Greg was truly one of the most loyal, genuine, and kind men I have had the honor of knowing, and I know that this sentiment is felt by all who knew him. He adored his family and was actively involved in his children’s lives. He regularly coached and cheered along his children at sporting events and in all endeavors of their growing lives. He loved and unwaveringly supported his wife, who dedicates her time and profession in the Plymouth Public Schools community as a counselor to middle school students. The devastating and sudden loss of his life will continue to be felt immensely by his family and friends. In honor of his life and the lives that he has left behind, myself, members of the Plymouth community and members of the Massachusetts State Police want to support Greg’s young family in whatever way we can. The funds from this fundraiser will be given to the Furtado Family and used to help them navigate their future in ways that cannot be fully comprehended at this time.
More than 500 people have given to the fundraiser as of December 14.
